Hocking Hills, OH: A Hidden Gem
Tucked away in central Ohio lies Hocking Hills State Park. It was been an attraction for several decades, and I can see why. In spring it boasts beautiful waterfalls- in winter it showcases frozen ones- and summer and fall lay claim to comfortable weather for hiking. Year round there are scenic vistas and great hikes.
Waterfalls on Waterfalls on Waterfalls
Virtually every hike in the park brings you to or takes you past a waterfall, and let me tell you, they are exciting to see. They come in all shapes and sizes and are ever present throughout your time in nature there. I especially recommend visiting Conkle's Hollow: it's easily accessible (and has an amazing Upper Rim Trail option for able hikers) and comes with gorgeous scenery.
Great Hiking
A word of advice: prepare yourself for a lot of stairs and uphill walks. They come with rewarding views though, I promise.
It makes for a great weekend or weeklong trip. Conkle's Hollow, Rock House, and the caves are some of my favorite places in the park. For more information, check out the park website. Happy hiking!
